In under three weeks organisations from across the North East’s real estate sector will come together to shine a light on the investment and development opportunities in the region at the UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) 2023.

Led by inward investment agency, Invest Newcastle, part of NewcastleGateshead Initiative (NGI), 26 public and private sector sponsors are preparing to make their presence known amongst more than 250 core cities and regions in the UK in Leeds.

With the likes of Newcastle City Council, Gateshead Council, North of Tyne Combined Authority and Advance Northumberland as part of the delegation, the Invest Newcastle event programme reflects the strengths and aspirations of the region. It covers topics including devolution, people and skills, sustainability and inclusive growth, and explores how the property industry can support these agendas.

Key strategic developments in the region will also be highlighted in the hopes of attracting further investment including, The Sage – an Arena and Conference centre and the further opportunities along the Gateshead-side of the River Tyne, the health innovation neighbourhood on the site of the old General Hospital as well as opportunities in the emerging screen industry and health and life sciences sector.

The event programme includes speakers such as, Steve Rotheram, Mayor of Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, Pete Gladwell, Group Social Impact and Investment Director at Legal & General and Alison Gwynn, Chief Executive of North East Screen.

Pam Smith, Chief Executive, Newcastle City Council, said: “UKREiiF is a vital platform to further drive the social and economic ambitions that we have as a region. I am looking forward to profiling and showcasing our strengths and the depth of opportunity here.

“Following last year, our collaborative spirit as a delegation, is going from strength to strength. Working with other local authorities and the private sector, we will highlight what makes Newcastle the best place to invest in.”

Jennifer Hartley, Director of Invest Newcastle, NGI, said: “Following the success of UKREiiF last year, it was a no-brainer for us to lead a delegation down to Leeds once again. The 2023 delegation comes with a vast breadth of expertise from across the real estate sector and we each have a passion for the region and driving forward opportunities to boost the local economy. Our delegates can be found across the UKREiiF event programme on panels and roundtables discussing the challenges and opportunities within the sector and how the North East is leading the way.

“Our session schedule in the Invest Newcastle Pavilion aims to showcase this expertise and raise the profile of Newcastle, Gateshead and the wider North East as a place where investment delivers economically, environmentally and socially. With a delegation that brings together the public sector, private sector and academia, our UKREiiF 2023 presence epitomises the level of collaboration happening in our region.”
