An event programme which shines a light on the depth of investment and development opportunities in the North East of England has been revealed for MIPIM 2024.

Invest Newcastle, part of NewcastleGateshead Initiative (NGI), have this week unveiled the themes, topics and events they will be presenting at one of the world’s largest real estate conferences, MIPIM in France.

More than 20 public and private sector organisations will join Invest Newcastle around the themes of regeneration, social impact, devolution and foreign direct investment as well as profiling key developments across the region, including Pilgrim Street, Gateshead Quays, Durham Cricket Club and the brownfield site behind Newcastle Central Station, Forth Yards.

Sponsors and interested organisations came together last week at Newcastle College to find out about the delegation’s presence this year as well as NCG’s own campus development opportunity.

Invest Newcastle has led a delegation to MIPIM since 2016 where the city is profiled amongst some of the world’s leading destinations. In 2024, Newcastle will collaborate with cities and regions, including London, Manchester, Stockholm as well as national government departments and international investors.

Jennifer Hartley, Director of Invest Newcastle, NGI, said: “I am really looking forward to MIPIM this year as we prepare to launch a number of development opportunities and initiatives; anticipate a new mayoral combined authority and the opportunities this will bring for economic growth in the North East; and share our priorities for internationalisation and social impact investing.

“The team has been busy working with our sponsors to bring together a varied events programme that reflects the scale of opportunity here in the region and we will be showcasing this with one voice at the conference.”

Sponsors of the Invest Newcastle delegation include NCG, Northumbria and Newcastle Universities, Ryder Architecture, Avison Young, Eldon Square and Fenwick.

Liz Bromley, CEO, NCG, said: “This is a really exciting time for NCG and particularly our Newcastle city centre campuses. MIPIM provides us with an international platform to showcase the huge opportunity we have here to create a best-in-class campus for our students that reflects the innovative spirit of the city.”

Jonathan Seebacher, Partner, Ryder Architecture, said: “Being part of the Invest Newcastle delegation means that a diverse range of voices are represented on this global stage. As a business founded in Newcastle, we are proud to support the continued regeneration of the city and want to play our part in being part of its continued story.”
