Aberdeen Standard Investments’ prime Newcastle office investment at One Trinity Gardens, Broad Chare, has been WiredScore certificated to the highest, platinum, level, the first building in the city to be certified to such a high level.

“This means the building’s connectivity is exceptional,” says Chris Pearson, partner, Gavin Black & Partners. “Smart building technology of the highest standards is essential for occupiers as well as landlords who take steps to forward plan to deliver space fit for the future.

“Arguably One Trinity Gardens is the best building in the city with the highest tech standards not just for what tenants want now but what they want in the future. This is very much the concept of ‘tech-forward’.”

A vital element of smart building technology is Wired Certification which ensures development or redevelopment is tech-forward. Improving building connectivity at One Trinity Gardens has involved bringing in a fixed wireless provider to create an alternative form of connectivity into the building from internet service providers entering from street level.

The new fixed wireless connection adds to the existing data connections to provide variation and improves the number of internet service options for tenants within the building.

Jamie Mableson, director, Fuse Media, project consultants delivering data and connectivity solutions for multiple occupancy properties, guest Wi-Fi networks, rapidly deployed data connections, WiredScore enhancements, says the Aberdeen Standard project required a complete review of the building’s infrastructure.

“To move up from the existing gold standard to platinum not only required the new 1Gb high speed fixed wireless data connection but also an extended distribution of fibre connectivity to all floors of the building  and the provision of a free WiFi network in the common areas for use by occupiers and visitors to the building, ” says Mr Mableson.

“We also created a secure area for the placement and protection of ISP termination equipment to ensure the connectivity of the building cannot be inadvertently or accidentally compromised. The vision has been successful. The building is now 90/100 Wired Certified Platinum, an exceptional achievement.”

Chris Pearson adds: “This is all about tenant experience and future-proofing the building as a genuine ‘smart’ building so it can respond to changing technology. This new, best-in-class, level of digital connectivity will be a new dimension for potential tenants and an asset for the city.

“In terms of availability through the joint agents Cushman & Wakefield and Gavin Black & Partners we have suites from 3,376 sq ft to 7,358 sq ft all benefiting from this new level of WiredScore certification.”
