In light of the UN’s Climate Change Conference (COP26), we asked DC members what contributions they were making to combat climate change and work towards net zero.

Sandra Manson, Senior Director, Pegasus Group

“We’re already in the process of refreshing our business plan with a key focus on our environmental practices. We’re looking at sustainability, net zero and how deep rooted within our business our commitment should go. We already contribute to recycling and encouraging sustainable development within our projects, but now it’s important for us to look at what the next steps are for Pegasus Group across each area of the company.”

David Gibbs, Commercial Director, UK Land Estates

“It’s an issue we’ve taken seriously for some time now and have been addressing through the design and specification of our new build properties, as well as the refurbishment of existing premises.

“For example, we’re incorporating photovoltaic power systems into buildings, using more sustainable building technologies and using green energy tariffs across our portfolio. Soon we’ll launch our Responsible Business Strategy, which we hope will provide inspiration and ideas to others.”

Catherine Affleck, Operations Director and Head of Property Management at Bradley Hall

“Bradley Hall Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents is committed to improving its carbon footprint ahead of the government’s Net Zero target and is implementing a range of changes and strategies. We have replaced a less-efficient AC system in our headquarters and replaced with a more efficient heating system, as well as updating halogen lighting to LEDs across all operational sites.

“We use local suppliers wherever possible to reduce carbon impact and to support our local economy, and all staff are provided with reusable water bottles and travel mugs to reduce plastic waste. These are all small changes we have been able to make effectively and we are committed to creating change and improving our carbon footprint in the years to come.”
