Our membership is unique due to its cross collaboration between the public and private sector. We hold meetings, workshops and in-focus sessions every year, inviting our members and public sector associates to discuss opportunities and barriers facing our region.
Unlocking Growth & Investment for the Region
We operate with one clear goal in mind, to break down barriers and generate growth within the North East development sector to support our wider economy. Developing Consensus members have played a crucial role in shaping local plans and developing property investment funds.
Working alongside the North East Combined Authority
We support the opportunities brought by the North East Combined Authority, acting as a sounding board, a knowledge source and a critical friend for policies and growth opportunities that impact our sector. Our Chair Sandra Manson, currently sits on the NECA Business Board as Chair of Place.
Our key focus areas
Enabling Development
We work to support and deliver on priority schemes and key infrastructure projects, while communicating the barriers to development and using our combined voice to influence change.
Infrastructure
As the new North East Transport Plan forms, we have regular discussions and open member events with Transport North East, to ensure a plan is created which benefits and enhances our offering as a region.
Inward Investment
Regional development agencies such as Invest North East and Invest Newcastle regularly present and input into our meetings. Our membership is working towards influencing a strong singular investment operation for the region, to maximise our international reach.
Planning
We work closely with Local Planning Authorities and host regular workshops across all seven authorities to build relationships between our private sector members, identify issues affecting decision making and help share our vision for strategic planning within the region.
Junior Chapter
Our Junior Chapter continues to grow, and professionals at the beginning of their journey within the sector, now regularly input and attend our member meetings as well as our specific Junior Chapter events.
